Fort Bend Aggie Moms’ Club February Meeting

Please join us on Monday, February 8, for our monthly meeting. The speaker will be Dr. Ian Tizard, Director of the Schubot Exotic Bird Health Center and Professor of Immunology in the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. He will be speaking about exotic birds and his research program with parrots in Peru and elsewhere. He was educated at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (Bachelor of Science and BVMS) and University of Cambridge, England (PhD in Immunology). Prior to coming to A&M, he was at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.
The meeting will be held at the Sugar Land Community Center, 226 Matlage Way, across from the Post Office. Social time, Boutique shopping and refreshments start at 7 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Our guest for the January meeting was Aggie Mom Jan Bethancourt, artist, motivational speaker and author of Be Empowered! Eat Chocolate with Breakfast.
Jan’s daughter, Sarah ‘04, spoke of how she coped with high school and college life while dealing with several spinal surgeries, and how her mother’s inspiration helped her through recovery and to finally graduate from Texas A&M and become a happy, successful young woman.
Be Empowered! Eat Chocolate with Breakfast will make a great gift for Valentine’s Day for your student or family member. The cost is $15 which includes tax and a pretty envelope. You may still buy a book from Jan by contacting her at www.janbethdesigns.com. She will even deliver your orders to our next Aggie Mom meeting on February 8! A percentage of her book sales from our club members will be given to our club too!

Buy your raffle tickets for the Aggie T-shirt Quilt being raffled at the Howdy Hoedown. The quilt is valued at $500, hand made and professionally quilted. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for a book of 6. - We are an organization of friendship, education, networking and support for each other and our students. With the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Clubs, we seek to support our students through scholarships and donations to campus organizations by participation of our members in fundraising events throughout the year. Mostly we come together to learn the things our kids don’t tell us, have fun and share the joys and tears of parenting through the college years.
